Bridgewater Realtor On Holiday Mission To Help Pets Find 'Furever' Homes
"I help people buy and sell homes. But I also want to be able to help the animals find their homes, too," said Michael LoCascio.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Lifelong Bridgewater resident, pet lover, and realtor Michael LoCascio has made it his mission to help shelter pets find their "furever" homes this holiday season.
"I help people buy and sell homes. But I also want to be able to help the animals find their homes, too," said LoCascio, who also volunteers at the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter every week.
This season, he is working with the shelter, which currently has more than 45 cats and kittens needing homes, to help garner donations and adoptions.

As part of this effort, LoCascio shares videos each week on his Facebook page - Michael LoCascio - of shelter pets who have been at the shelter for a long period of time to increase exposure and hopefully get adopted.
LoCascio recalls one particular spotlight he did for a cat named Bridget.

"I couldn't stop thinking about Bridget. I don't know, there was just something about the cat," said LoCascio.
So LoCasio went back to the shelter with his wife and son to adopt her. Unfortunately, Bidget wasn't there. She was adopted already.
The LoCascio family went to the kitten room and ended up adopting three kittens since they found out they were from the same litter.
"As I was signing the papers, the lady who was at the shelter told me that those are Bridget's kids. It's such a sweet story. How I went to the shelter to get her, she was calling me to get her, but instead, I ended up taking her kids," said LoCascio.
He's hoping to spread that holiday spirit to others and encourage them to help the shelter and its pets.
LoCascio has launched a community fundraising initiative to help the shelter continue to provide food, vaccinations, medical care, warm shelter, and ultimately a second chance at life for pets who deserve safe and loving forever homes.
"The holidays are a meaningful time for coming together, and my mission is to help as many animals as possible find homes during this season of giving," said LoCascio.
He also recently made his own a donation from a portion of his real estate transaction commission to Somerset Regional Animal Shelter.
"I'm just trying to get some more community outreach. I want to be able to get people to donate. I know it's hard for people to adopt, so I wanted to create a fundraiser," said LoCascio.
Community members can contribute by purchasing supplies from the shelter's Amazon Wishlist or by making a monetary donation to srasnj.org/donate.
