The Somerset Hills AAUW Used Book Sale, which each August draws draws several hundred book lovers (and dealers), returns to its usual location at the Bernardsville Middle School, 141 Seney Drive in Bernardsville on August 4, 5 and 6. The scheduled hours for the sale itself are 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 4 and 5, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6. Once again in 2022 the sale is co-chaired by AAUW members Teri Passarello and Bonnie Gould, both Basking Ridge residents who have long been involved with the sale. Proceeds of the sale traditionally benefit local libraries and provide scholarships for young women.
Book donations will be accepted between Monday, July 25 and Friday, July 29
Donations of hardcover and paperback books in good condition are welcomed at the loading dock at the Middle School, between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, July 25 to 29. Along with books, the sale organizers will accept DVDs and CDs, Passarello said. However, the AAUW will not accept donations of records, cassettes, VHS, encyclopedias, textbooks, reference book sets or magazines. If student volunteers are available, they will help donors carry books to the loading dock.

Volunteers sought to help sort books before sale opens
Additional sorting volunteers are needed to work with AAUW members between July 29 and Wednesday, Aug. 3 to arrange the large number of volumes into the many categories that make it easy for shoppers to find titles that match their interest.
High school students can receive necessary credit for required community service hours by volunteering to assist at the AAUW book sale.
To volunteer to help with the sale, call/text 908-313-8421, or email info@somersethillsaauw.org
As usual, Passarello said, books will sell for a 25 percent premium on Thursday, the first day. The base price, which will be in effect on Friday, will be $1 for more volumes, with some basic childrens' books priced at 25 or 50 cents, and special choice books individually priced. The books that remain will be half-priced on Saturday, including choice books, Passarello said. Books that are unsold after the sale closes are passed along to other organizations.
