Firefighter Injured Battling Barn Fire In Somerset County
At least seven different volunteer fire companies responded to help extinguish the fire on Monday night.
PEAPACK, NJ — A firefighter was injured battling a barn fire in Peapack on Monday, which prompted firefighters to respond from across Somerset County.
Just before 4 p.m., the Peapack & Gladstone Police Department responded to reports of a structure fire at 27–29 Willow Avenue, Peapack.
Witnesses reported seeing heavy smoke and flames, said Peapack & Gladstone Police Chief Stephen Ferrante.

Officers found the barn and saw that the second floor and roof were fully engulfed in flames.
Officers confirmed the barn was unoccupied and immediately helped in coordinating the multi-agency emergency response.

Multiple fire, EMS, and police departments responded to help extinguish the fire, including Peapack-Gladstone First Aid and Rescue Squad Inc., Peapack Gladstone Fire Department, Pottersville Volunteer Fire Company, Pottersville, NJ, North Branch Fire Department, Basking Ridge Fire Co. No 1 & EMS, Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department, Far Hills - Bedminster First Aid Squad, Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad, Chester Volunteer Fire Company, Chester, NJ, Peapack And Gladstone Police Department, Far Hills Police Department, Somerset County Dispatchers, and Jerry Conover Excavating Inc.
Working together, the fire was brought under control and ultimately extinguished.
One firefighter had a minor injury and was taken to Morristown Hospital by members of the Peapack & Gladstone First Aid Squad for evaluation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time; however, it does not appear to be suspicious.
"The Peapack & Gladstone Police Department thanks all responding agencies for their swift and professional response," said Ferrante.
