Bryan's Dream Selects Local HS Seniors for Scholarships

The Bryan T. Opremcak scholarship was established in memory of Nancy and Tim Opremcak's son.

Two Ridge High School seniors were selected as the winners of the 2015 Bryan T. Opremcak Memorial Scholarship at Ridge High School last week.

Regan Asay and Will Mahoney were awarded the scholarships at Ridge High School on Wednesday, June 3. Regan will be attending the University of the Sciences, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Will will be attending Gettsyburg College, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, according to Bryan’s Dream Foundation.

The scholarship was established in memory of Nancy and Tim Opremcak’s son, Bryan, and is funded by a donation from the couple. Bryan passed away in 2006 after battling a brain tumor.

The two $1,000 scholarships were awarded to two students who demonstrated strong academic prowess and community service.

According to the Bryan’s Dream Foundation, the scholarship awarded to students reads: “for being a well-rounded individual, exhibiting excellence in many area of her life, not just in academics, and by reflecting the characteristics that defined Bryan T. Opremcak’s short life: a strong mind, focused determination to make a positive difference in the lives of others and demonstrating a history of ‘giving back’ through leadership activities, community service and/or work experience.”
