Sewer Fees Will Not Increase For 8th Year In A Row In Basking Ridge

For the eighth year in a row, sewer rates will remain unchanged, said Township Administrator Pat Monaco.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Residents will be happy to hear that the Township sewer rates will not increase for the eighth year in a row.

Township Administrator Pat Monaco said the sewer rates will remain unchanged at the Dec. 9 Township Committee meeting.

"I just want to note how extraordinary it is in times of, you know, rising costs everywhere that your colleagues on the sewage commission are able to hold these fees steady despite everything else going up all around us. So hats off," said Deputy Mayor Andrew McNally.

The Bernards Township sewer rate is $500 per residential unit.

To keep rates flat over the years, Bernards Township Engineer Thomas Timko told Patch, "the Sewerage Authority utilizes a pay-as-you-go budgeting policy, so budgets are carefully planned. Projects are not undertaken until the funding is in place. We also continually look for ways to reduce spending."
