Environmental Education Center Programs in Basking Ridge

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as summer draws to a close in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

Pre-registration is required for programs and may be done by calling 908-766- 2489 or NJ Relay at 711 for individuals with a hearing or speech impairment. Registration is available online at www.somersetcountyparks.org.

CHILDREN, TEENS & CHILD/PARENT PROGRAM:

The Green Team (free program) - Saturday, October 3 from 1 p.m.. to 4 p.m.

  • Children ages 12 to 15 who have to fulfill a community service requirement for school will enjoy the educational and fun activities at the Environmental Education Center.
  • The program is free.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS:

Apple Tasting - Saturday, October 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist to learn all about the apple, tasting a variety of local and specialty varieties.
  • Fee is $8 per person.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal- care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
