The program will be presented by Far Hills Director of Lower School Pat Barry and Director of Upper School Emily Seelaus and will be held in the school’s Allen Library. This presentation is free and open to the public; attendees should enter the building through the Main Entrance and allow a few minutes for sign-in.
Parents of elementary and middle school-aged children will be given tips and tricks for finding the balance between summer fun and maintaining the academic foundation their child has worked so hard to achieve. With more than four decades of combined experience, Barry and Seelaus are the ideal educators to provide advice for helping children stay on track for the start of the new school year in September.

“Recent research has proven that children lose on average one month of reading and language arts skills and up to two months of math skills every summer if they don’t practice their skill set,” said Barry. “There are easy-to-accomplish things that parents can do at home over the summer to help children keep their skills sharp, so they’re ready to hit the ground running when the new school year starts.”
“As parents, we know it can be challenging to engage children in educational activities over the summer,” said Seelaus. “We will share tips and tricks that are efficient and fun—and that actually work.”
