Graffiti At Harry Dunham Park, DWI Arrest, Phone Scams Reported In Basking Ridge
Bernards Township Police Department released its blotter for the month of July:

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Phone scams, a driving while intoxicated arrest, criminal mischief, and theft were reported during July in Basking Ridge.

During the above timeframe, Bernards Township Police Department Officers responded to 26 motor vehicle crashes. There were four injuries reported and seven motor vehicle summonses issued.

On July 1: A resident of Castle Way reported being the victim of a credit card scam in which multiple payment apps were compromised. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
On July 2: A resident from Fairbanks Lane reported an online bank account scam. The victim’s computer was hacked after clicking on a random pop-up window link, which was believed to be a legitimate alert from the bank they use. The victim subsequently withdrew $20,000 in cash and provided it to an unknown subject in a box outside their home. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.

On July 4: Officer Kyle McCartney initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Mark Caesar of East Orange, for several ATS warrants totaling $9,000. Caesar was provided with new court dates and released on his own recognizance.
On July 4: Patrol Officers responded to SLAB Gelato & Ice Cream for a report of an outdoor stool that was stolen. The officers were able to identify the suspect from the security camera in the parking lot and were able to retrieve the stolen stool. The victim was satisfied with the returned property and declined to press charges against the suspect.
On July 5: Officer Bryson Buchanan initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Pablo Gil of Raritan for an active ATS warrant of Harrison totaling $1,000. Gil was given a new court date and released on his recognizance.
On July 5: Officer Nicholas Dante initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Cynthia Chaudoreilleselig for several ATS warrants totaling $8,000. Chaudoreilleselig was provided with new court dates and released on her own recognizance.
On July 11: Officer Bryson Buchanan was alerted by the department’s ALPR system that a stolen vehicle out of Barnegat. Buchanan found the vehicle and tried to stop it on Martinsville Road. The vehicle fled east onto Valley Road, passing multiple cars while driving on the wrong side of the road. Buchanan pursued the vehicle onto Interstate 78 West, where the pursuit was terminated due to unsafe conditions.
On July 18: A resident of Spruce Street reported fraudulent activity, in which an unknown person used the resident’s address to register a vehicle and obtain auto insurance. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the matter.
On July 18: Officer Dean Hogan initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Elise Nouatin of Sewaren for an ATS warrant totaling $850. Noutain was given a new court and released on her own recognizance.
On July 20: Officer Olivia Strama initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Frumen Britosanchez of Basking Ridge after it was determined he was operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor or drugs. Britosanchez was also charged with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and reckless driving. Britosanchez was released to a family member and given a court date.
On July 21: Corporal Anthony Severino initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Walter Orellana of Jersey City for multiple ATS warrants totaling $1,350. Orellana was able to post bond for one of the warrants and was given a new court date for the other warrant. Orellana was released on his own recognizance.
On July 23: Bernards Township Public Works reported criminal mischief at Harry Dunham Park, in which the hockey rink rules sign has been defaced. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
On July 24: Det. Kendall Kulik received approval to issue an arrest warrant for Nasir Lewter of East Orange for his role in a residential burglary and attempted motor vehicle theft at a residence on Meeker Rd in December 2024.
On July 29: A resident from English Place reported a bank phone scam, in which the victim was advised that their bank account was compromised; and they needed to move their money to a different account via Apple Pay. The victim withdrew $29,500 from their accounts and deposited it into various ATMs, sending the money to the scammer. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
On July 30: A resident of Ramapo Drive reported an employment scam in which they sent $700 to an unknown actor via Cashapp. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
"The Bernard’s Township Police would like to continue to remind everyone to report suspicious activity observed by calling 908-766-1122. Please keep vehicles locked, without the keys in them, and valuables out of sight. Please confirm all suspicious calls/emails/texts/messages requesting monetary payments with law enforcement or banking officials before sending funds."
