Multiple Homes Burglarized While Basking Ridge Homeowners Away On Vacation: Blotter
A report of possible human remains discovered in a retention pond in the Township was also reported in the police blotter.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Multiple homes burglarized while residents were away on vacation were reported in Baskig Ridge during August.
On Aug. 3, a resident from Doggett Court reported their home was burglarized at some point while away on vacation. The victim believes around $10,000 worth of items were taken from the home.
On Aug. 10, a resident of Musket Drive reported around $75,000 worth of jewelry and designer bags missing from the home.

On Aug. 12, a resident from Savannah Court reported their home was burglarized while they were away on vacation. The unknown actor made entry into the home by smashing a rear patio door, no items of value were taken from the home.
The Detective Bureau is currently investigating all of the burglaries.

Other Bernards Township Police Department blotter items for August:
During the above timeframe, Bernards Township Police Department officers responded to 15 motor vehicle crashes. There were five injuries reported and three motor vehicle summonses issued.
On Aug. 1: The Detective Bureau identified and charged Christopher Jones of Bedminster, for criminal mischief in defacing township signs at Harry Dunham Park. Jones was issued a summons and provided a future court date.
On Aug. 5: Officer Kyle McCartney found an individual reported missing by the Netcong Police Department who suffers from dementia. The victim was reunited with his family and removed from NCIC as a missing person.
On Aug. 10: Officer Mackenzie Kanaley initiated a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle in which the occupant was soliciting Leaf Filters without a permit. The occupant of the vehicle was issued a complaint summons for soliciting without a permit.
On Aug. 16: While investigating a motor vehicle collision on Long Rd, Officer Josh Filipovits arrested Fernando Pinto from Union Township for driving while intoxicated. Pinto was issued a summons for DWI and was released to a family member.
On Aug. 15: Detective Kendall Kulik received approval to issue two complaint summonses to Mario Osses-Vistoso of Raritan for theft by failure to make the required disposition of property received. The charges come from an investigation Detective Kulik conducted in which the accused was hired by multiple victims to perform work at their homes, but never completed or started the work despite being paid in advance.
On Aug. 18: A resident of Alder Lane reported their bank account being hacked by an unknown individual. The victim had $14,600 in unauthorized funds withdrawn from their account. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
On Aug. 18: A resident from Hansom Road reported that a forged check for $1,440 was withdrawn from their bank account. The Detective Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
On Aug. 18: Officer. Tyler Widitz initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Glenn Zanetti of Basking Ridge for driving while intoxicated. Zanetti was issued summonses for DWI, refusal to submit to chemical tests, reckless driving, and delaying traffic. Zanetti was driven home and released. A passenger in his vehicle, Kevin Dawkins of Basking Ridge, was issued two complaint summonses for obstructing administration of law or other government function and disorderly conduct. Dawkins tried to interfere with the arrest of Zanetti. Dawkins was released on scene and provided a court date for his charges.
On Aug. 22: Officers responded to the area of the retention pond behind Potomac Drive for a report of possible human remains discovered. After investigation, it was determined that the remains were a rubber female doll with a blonde wig and was placed in that area by Nicholas Morris. Further investigation resulted in Nicholas Morris of Basking Ridge being arrested and charged with false reporting to law enforcement.
On Aug. 25: Officer Bryson Buchanan initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested Alim Ellis of Newark for an ACS Warrant from Newark Municipal Court for criminal mischief. Ellis was provided a new court date and released on his own recognizance.
On Aug. 25: A resident of Countryside Drive reported a PayPal Text Scam in which the victim purchased $600 worth of Apple gift cards and provided the card numbers to the scammer. Employees in the convenience store realized the victim was being scammed and prevented them from purchasing any further gift cards. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
On Aug. 29: Officer Olivia Strama initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrested William Dedeaux 3rd, of Irvington for two outstanding ATS Warrants from Newark Municipal Court for failing to appear on other charges. Dedeaux was provided a new court date and released on his recognizance.
"The Bernard’s Township Police would like to continue to remind everyone to report suspicious activity observed by calling 908-766-1122. Please keep vehicles locked, without the keys in them, and valuables out of sight. Please confirm all suspicious calls/emails/texts/messages requesting monetary payments with law enforcement or banking officials before sending funds," said police.
