NJDEP Issues Air Quality Notification For Basking Ridge
Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category across most of New Jersey.

Hazardous weather conditions could be making their way to Basking Ridge today.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection declared an Ozone Action Day, forecasting unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups across the state Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12.
The NJDEP is forecasting ozone is to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category across much of the Garden State due to light southwest winds, mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures on Thursday. On Friday, ozone will reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category again, due to mostly sunny skies, hot temperatures and light variable winds.

Individuals in the sensitive groups, including the very young, the elderly and persons with respiratory disease such as asthma, should avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. Fine particles are forecast to reach the moderate category across New Jersey also.
Additionally, the National Weather Service is predicting a 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the region, mainly after 1 p.m., some of which could produce gusty winds.
