Ridge High School Fencing Emerges As Overall Somerset County Champ
The boys' epee squad, as well as the girls' foil and epee teams, turned in dominating performances on Saturday.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The boys’ epee squad, as well as the girls’ foil and epee teams, turned in dominating performances at the get-go to power Ridge High School Fencing to another overall title at the 2025 Somerset County Fencing Championships at Bernards High School Gym on Dec. 20.
Maya Zamlynny (foil), Richard Tsien (epee) and Izabella Klausz (epee) won individual titles in the annual competition which attracted 90 fencers in the whole-day event.
Zamlynny beat Prithika Satish of Montgomery to secure a 3 rd county title to her belt.

Other notable finishes that contributed to Ridge’s overall title are as follows:
- Boys’ Foil (3rd place) – Kevin Han, Richard Liu & Gabriel Iglesias
- Boys’ Saber (2nd) – Brandon Bonura, Owen Thorpe & Jason Babigian
- Girls’ Saber (4th) - Kaavya Padhi, Lindy Meng, Ranajita Bhatacharjee, Sienna Yurkovic, Bridget Mulry & Beatrice Reed
- Individual Foil (girls) – Aria Chahal (3rd)
- Individual Saber (girls) –Kaavya Padhi (2nd)
- Individual Epee (girls) – Charlotte Liu (3rd)
- Individual Saber (boys) – Jason Babigian (3rd)
- Individual Epee (boys) – Christian Mulry (4th)
Ridge is looking forward to continuing its active campaign at the ongoing state tournament after the holidays with its coaches Vince Paragano, Glen Pernia, and Nesi Calderon.
