Ridge Youth Flag Football Jets 2nd, 3rd Grade Team Finishes Season

A recap of the 2025 season:

(Lydia Kerrick)

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The boys kicked off the schedule with a trial by fire on opening day of the 2025 season. As they grew both individually and as a team, the RYSI Jets 2/3 finally put their foot down firmly on the gas pedal in the opening round of the playoffs.

Battling the #1 seed in their division who were undefeated going into the game - the Jets connected on a 4th Down Bomb over the middle to score a Touchdown.

A true team effort, with excellent blocking, a beautiful pass, a locked in reception, a long run after the catch and a key downfield block to clinch the scoring drive.

This capped a season where the boys learned a ton of new plays and lots of new rules. They each persevered throughout the season to hone their skills and find their niche on what might be the most team-focused sport out there. Truly a sport that takes all 8 players to execute a game plan on every play.

The defense was stout all season long, with everyone grabbing multiple flags and chasing down each and every offensive drive with tenacious defense.

Despite the loss, the boys all wished for a longer season and more games to play, knowing that they are getting better each and every game. The loudest and rowdiest group of players on the gridiron could be heard across Mountain Park yelling "J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets" [with their K/1 counterparts] and it was rumored you could hear them all the way in Bernardsville on Saturday mornings.

And with their last wishes granted - they got one more game and in a barn burner - scored one more emphatic touchdown to put an exclamation point on their season.

Parents, Grandparents, Siblings and Friends - especially the coaching staff of volunteer Dads, could not be more proud of our crew.
