“As I scrolled through my Facebook, I stumbled upon an article in The Bridgewater Patch. The title caught my eye. The story sounded familiar. Now we have the name of the woman who took action when my father needed help.

On behalf of the Hovanec Family, I would like to thank Carola Stern for her efforts on June 13, 2017. It is people like Carola who remind us that random acts of kindness and compassion can affect others in life-altering ways. Carola, who without hesitation, went out of her way to do something extraordinary for someone she did not even know. That is something you see few and far between, and it is refreshing to be noted as newsworthy.

With the combination of her efforts, my brother, those of the local emergency personnel and Morristown Medical Center, my father is doing fine. For those that would like a more serious update on his condition, at 93 years old, he is still able to beat me in a card game!

Carola, we wish you well, and hope all good things come your way.”
