WATCH: Basking Ridge USWNT Member Shares Her Story

The United States Women’s National Team is known for its success on the pitch and for making some great assists, but now the 23 players are sharing their own personal #GreatAssist stories.

Tobin Heath, 26, Basking Ridge native and Ridge High School graduate, shares her story in the #GreatAssist series. The series, sponsored by Clorox, is described as “One nation. One team. 23 stories.”

“I’m kind of a homebody without a home,” Heath said in the video. “I love that feeling of home of like being surrounded by people that love you and care about you.”

Heath currently plays at the professional level for Portland Thorns FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She joined Thorns FC in July 2014 after finishing her season with Paris Saint-Germain in France.

“I’ve lived in a few different states and I don’t really do things by the book, I guess you would say. There’s just so many rules and I don’t understand them,” she said in the video. “One of my professors once said, once you actually buy a home or have a home all your adventure leaves. It’s kind of sad, but I hope I still have that like sense of adventure in my life.”

Heath appeared in four matches as a substitute in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, appearing in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final in her first World Cup at the senior national team level, the club said. According to her player biography, Heath is regarded as one of the most technically gifted and skillful dribblers on the USWNT.

She played collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina, where she and the North Carolina Tar Heels won the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship in 2006, 2008 and 2009. She finished her college career with 19 goals and 32 assists. Heath is a 2006 graduate of Ridge High School.
