2 Cars Stolen In Nutley, 1 During Home Invasion: Police

A suspect entered a Nutley home through an unlocked basement door. A resident left home in the morning to find their spouse's car missing.

NUTLEY, NJ — The Nutley Police Department recently released details about two car thefts that took place in the township.

According to police, the following incidents took place in Nutley:

Nov. 1 (Prospect Street) – “Officers responded to a residence on a report of a stolen vehicle. The resident stated the car was missing when they exited the house in the morning. The first suspect appeared tall and skinny, wearing all black. The second suspect appeared heavier-set, wearing all black. The third suspect was wearing a grey tracksuit with a black puffer vest. The resident stated their bag with all of their items inside of it along with other belongings was missing. It was determined that this incident was a home invasion and the suspect entered through the unlocked basement door. The resident was entered into the identity theft database, and the detective bureau was notified of the incident.”

Nov. 11 (Fernwood Terrace) – “Officers were dispatched to a residence for a stolen motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers were greeted by the resident who stated when they exited their home in the morning, they noticed their spouse’s vehicle was missing. The officers conducted a sweep of the exterior of the residence, and it did not appear that anyone entered the home. The area was canvassed, and the detective bureau was notified.”
