BELLEVILLE-NUTLEY, NJ — New Jersey voters cast ballots in races across the state on Tuesday, including school board contests in Belleville and Nutley. Polling places closed at 8 p.m.

In Belleville, there are seven candidates running for two open seats on the school board (each term lasts for three years). The candidates are Nelson Barrera, Lissa Missaggia, Kenia Nicole Arroyuabe, Erika Jacho, Esteban Leon, Brenda Pacheco and Michael Sheldon.

Here are the uncertified results, as per the Essex County Clerk's Office (two open seats):

  • Nelson Barrera – 415 votes (8.29%)
  • Lissa Missaggia – 1,171 votes (23.40%)
  • Kenia Nicole Arroyuabe – 449 votes (8.97%)
  • Erika Jacho – 301 votes (6.01%)
  • Esteban Leon – 961 votes (19.2%)
  • Brenda Pacheco – 1,116 votes (22.30%)
  • Michael Sheldon – 592 votes (11.83%)

In Nutley, there are four candidates running for three open seats on the school board (each term lasts for three years). The candidates are Salvatore Balsamo, Lisa Danchak-Martin, Salvatore Ferraro and Stephen Gilberti.

With 95 percent of districts reported, Ferraro and Danchak-Martin have narrow leads over Balsamo, with Gilberti trailing behind. Here are the uncertified results as per the Essex County Clerk's Office (three open seats):

  • Salvatore Balsamo – 2,468 votes (27.12%)
  • Lisa Danchak-Martin – 2,509 votes (27.57%)
  • Salvatore Ferraro – 2,700 votes (29.67%)
  • Stephen Gilberti – 1,424 votes (15.65%)
