Thief Swipes Van Loaded With Amazon Packages In Belleville: Police

Belleville police found the van and recovered most of the packages. A search for the thief continues.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville police are searching for a suspect who stole a van loaded with Amazon packages earlier this month, authorities announced Tuesday.

The theft took place at 8:41 a.m. on Dec. 6 amid the holiday season rush.

According to the Belleville Police Department, a delivery driver left a Ford Transit van running while delivering packages on the 300-block of Cortlandt Street.

The suspect can be seen getting out of a Mercedes Benz – which was reported stolen out of New York – and fleeing with the van.

Belleville police found the van and recovered most of the packages on Riverside Court in Newark. A search for the thief continues, authorities said.
