Food Delivery Man Attacked In Belleville Gunpoint Robbery: Police

$60 in cash and the food he was delivering was taken, authorities said.

BELLEVILLE, NJ - A Chinese food delivery worker was robbed in a weekend gunpoint attack in Belleville, authorities said.

On Saturday at around 8:27 p.m., a victim reported an armed robbery that took place near 4 Lake Street in the township, Detective Lieutenant John McAloon told Patch.

The victim, who was not identified by police, reported he was delivering Chinese food to a Lake Street address when he was approached by a man wearing a black jacket and face mask, police said.

The man brandished a black handgun and pushed it against the victim's abdomen, demanding the driver’s money and pushing him to the ground while going through his pockets. $60 in cash and the food he was delivering was ultimately taken, police added.

A second suspect later emerged from a parked BMW and struck the victim in the face, police said. Both suspects fled in a black BMW sedan south on Lake Street.

The delivery driver was treated at Clara Maass Hospital for minor injuries and was later released.
