Ex Belleville Schools Employee Sues District
Suit alleges wrongful termination for former attendance officer.

A former employee of the Belleville School district has brought legal action against the school board for what she contends was a wrongful termination.
A Belleville Times report says that over the course of a decade, Iris Rodriguez worked in a number of positions in the district, starting as a teacher aide and attaining the job of residency domicile investigator/attendance officer, where she made sure students attending the schools were living in the district.
The lawsuit says that her replacements do not have her experience, including her ability to speak Spanish. In addition, the suit contends was not given tenure status despite being permitted to be tenured by law.

Rodriguez claims she was not given any opportunity to be heard, and was also not properly informed of any school board-related hearing to discuss her employment.
