If you’re juggling costs for vacation, back to school supplies, and routine bills, there are several reasons why you should reach for a Credit Card over a Debit Card.
Credit Card
Avoid interest – Paying your balance in full and on time every month will keep interest from adding up and may improve your credit score.
Apply for increases – You may have the opportunity for a higher credit limit.
Protect purchases– It’s easier to dispute and be refunded for fraudulent activity.
Redeem rewards – Earn points for travel and gift cards, plus extra points at some local merchants.

Debit Card
Restricted transactions – Daily dollar limits are enforced at the ATM and register.
Account withdrawals – Funds are debited directly from your checking account.
Does not build credit– Credit is not established through debit transactions. Choosing “credit” during checkout only changes the process of the transaction. Learn more from Experian.
Less rewarding – Most Debit Cards do not earn rewards comparable to Credit Cards.
