Local Justice: Decisions in Belleville Municipal Court

In State v. Shane Caba-Elder, of Newark, the State charged defendant with two related offenses: disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both occurring on January 1.  Defendant pleaded guilty to both offenses. The Court sentenced defendant to 10 days of community service and imposed fines and costs totaling $457.

In State v. Donte Cespedes, of Belleville, the State charged defendant with two related offenses: disorderly conduct and also with resisting arrest on February 7.  As part of a pela agreement, the resisting arrest charge was dismissed and defendant pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.  The Court imposed fines and costs totaling $557. 

In State v. Kimberly Elcheikhali, of Lyndhurst, the State charged defendant with two separate charges of possession of drug paraphernalia on March 21. The two charges were merged and resulted in a conditional discharge. The Court imposed a one year term of supervised probation and also imposed fees and costs totaling $832. 

The Belleville Municipal Court convenes in the Municipal Building, located at
152 Washington Avenue.  The Court convenes Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
