Local Justice: Decisions in Belleville Municipal Court

The Municipal Court handled these five criminal cases.

In State v. John Cruz, of Belleville, the State charged defendant with shoplifting under $200 of product from K-Mart on March 5th.  Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced defendant to 33 days in jail (time served) and imposed fees and costs totaling $657.

In State v. Darren Moriarti, of Belleville, the State charged defendant with possession of drug paraphernalia and also with possession of a hypodermic needle, both on March 4th.  As part of a plea agreement, the charge of possessing a needle was dismissed and defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.  The Court sentenced defendant to 30 days in jail and imposed fees and costs totaling $357.

In In State v. Michael Carbone, of Lake Copake, the State charged defendant with obstruction of justice(fleeing from scene) on February 12th.  Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Court sentenced defendant to 8 days in jail (time served) and imposed fees and costs totaling $667.

In State v. Giniane Dieduardo, of Newark, the State charged defendant with hindering apprehension by providing false information to a police officer on April 12th.  After a trial, the defendant was found guilty of the charge.  The Court sentenced defendant to 10 days of community service and imposed fees and costs totaling $357.

In State v. Christian Acosto-Lanier, of Jersey City, the State charged defendant with disorderly conduct on April 14th.   Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Court imposed fees and costs totaling $357.
