Nutley Cops: Woman Arrested After Stealing Pills from Job

West Orange woman allegedly stole 100 prescription pills.

Nutley police have arrested a West Orange woman for allegedly stealing a bottle containing 100 prescription pills from her place of business. 

According to a Nutley police report, Dena Dufault, 37, was arrested on March 26 after taking a sealed prescription bottle containing a schedule IV manufactured medication. A West Orange resident of that name listed her profession as a former ShopRite pharmacy technician in a Facebook profile.

Schedule IV drugs include Xanax and Valium, according to the Drug Enforcement Agency. Nutley police did not specify what kind of drug Dufault allegedly took.

Police say Dufault was charged with third degree theft, third degree distribution, third degree possession, third degree possession within 1000 feet of a school and second degree possession for within 500 feet of a park.

Police said a background revealed there Dufault had three outstanding warrants from East Orange, Pequannock and Bloomfield. Total bail set for the Nutley warrants was $20,000 with a 10 percent option.

Police said bail was not met, and Dufault was reportedly taken to Essex County Jail.
