Nutley Officials Invite Residents to Celebrate Earth Day
Townwide celebration scheduled for April 20.
Nutley officials said that the township's Earth Day Celebration shows how the people of Nutley are engaged in making their communities healthier, safer and cleaner.
The Parks Department has announced plans for the sixth annual community clean up for project “Earth Day 2013” on Saturday, April 20. This townwide, community clean-up will take place under the direction of the Nutley Parks & Recreation Department.
“Our goal is to bring the community together and raise awareness of the effects that pollutants have on our environment. Our water, air and ultimately the Earth are sustaining more and more damage with each year that passes” Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci said in a press release.

The Parks and Recreation Department welcomes suggestions from residents and business owners for other possible locations. Suggestions so far include Memorial Park I and II, Kingsland Park, Nichols Park, Reinheimer Park, River Road, school areas, Passaic Ave and railroad tracks have been suggested for the clean up.
"The public turnout for last years event was tremendous, with hundreds of residents registered, we hope to exceed our expectations again in 2013 ” stated Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci.

A closing ceremony will be held at Kingsland Park to distribute hand outs and enjoy light refreshments.
“We are making a commitment to the next generation by building awareness around issues that will help maintain and restore a healthy lifestyle for our community”. As the fight for a clean environment continues, we need to educate the community and stress the importance of a clean, healthy, environment” Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci said.
