Nutley Resident Makes Emergency Glider Landing in Pennsylvania

Man was not injured in surprise landing.

A Nutley resident piloting an engine-less glider plane was not hurt after making an unplanned landing this week in a Pennsylvania farm field.

According to a report in the Lehigh Valley paper the Express Times, Claudio Abreu, 68, originally planned to fly over the Lehigh Gap and return to Blairstown and Lehigh after being released from his tow plane on Thursday. While piloting the glider, he lost the air current necessary to keep the single passenger aircraft aloft.

Lehigh police responded to the scene. After setting the glider down, Abreu returned it to a nearby airport.
