Nutley Theater To Hold Sensory-Friendly Performance Of ‘Tin Cat Shoes’

Nutley Little Theatre: The performance will be suitable for audiences with sensitivity to sudden light and sound cues.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley Little Theatre will hold a sensory-friendly performance of “Tin Cat Shoes” by Trish Harnetiaux at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.

Here’s what to expect, the theater stated in a news release:

“Tin Cat Shoes is a madcap odyssey through a wilderness of corporate bureaucracy and crippling human dependencies. Blessed with the can-do American spirit, a troop of dedicated shoe store employees embark on a journey of personal expansion. But when ‘work is your life’ and systems break down, all that remains is you, a casino, and the truth.”

Directed by Sarah Gorden, the performance will be suitable for audiences with sensitivity to sudden light and sound cues. House lights will remain on throughout the showing. Sound cues have been cut and replaced with verbal descriptions. Strobe lights, fog machines and sudden light changes/blackouts have been cut. Foam ear plugs will be supplied for people who request them. Verbal warnings will take place before any section of the piece that may be triggering to certain audiences. During this showing, the performers will invite audience members to verbally respond to the action on stage in a judgment free space.
