Several Car Burglaries, Attempted Thefts Reported In Nutley
Here's where the incidents took place, Nutley police say.
NUTLEY, NJ — Several car burglaries or attempted thefts have been reported over the past few weeks in Nutley, police say.
The Nutley Police Department recently released details about multiple incidents that have taken place in the township:
Oct. 11: ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM VEHICLE (OAK STREET) – “Officers responded to the report of an attempted theft from a vehicle. The resident stated they observed a male party wearing all-black clothing and a black face covering exit a dark-colored sedan and enter their driveway. They stated that the suspect proceeded to pull on the door handles of the two vehicles parked in their driveway but was unsuccessful due to them being locked. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information.”

Oct. 11: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (LOVEL COURT) – “Officers responded to the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated that when they returned to their vehicle, they observed it had been rummaged through, and items were missing. They advised officers that they were unsure if the vehicle had been locked after exiting. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information, and the Detective Bureau was advised.”
Oct. 12: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (PASSAIC AVENUE) – “Officers responded to the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated that when they returned to their vehicle, they observed it had been rummaged through and a few items missing. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information.”

Oct. 13: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (PASSAIC AVENUE) – “Officers responded to the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated that when they returned to their vehicle in the morning, they observed it had been rummaged through, and items were missing. The victim advised that credit cards were among the contents taken, and they were informed to cancel their cards and monitor for any fraudulent activity. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information.”
Oct. 14: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (FRIEDLAND ROAD) – “Officers responded to the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated that when they returned to their vehicle in the morning, they observed items were missing. The victim advised that they were unsure if the vehicle had been left unlocked. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information.”
Oct. 15: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (CONOVER AVENUE) – “A resident responded to headquarters to report a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated that they had parked their vehicle in the driveway and upon returning the next morning, they observed the center console rummaged through and items missing from the vehicle. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information, and the Detective Bureau was advised.”
Oct. 15: THEFT (BLOOMFIELD AVENUE) – “Officers responded to the report of theft from a USPS truck. A party stated that they observed two male suspects wearing black ski masks and black hooded sweatshirts exit a red SUV and take trays of mail from the truck. Officers observed a window on the mail truck had been broken and mail scattered. The mail carrier was informed of the incident, and they advised their supervisor. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information, and the Detective Bureau was advised.”
Oct. 22: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (HARRISON STREET) – “A victim contacted headquarters reporting their vehicle was burglarized. The victim stated the vehicle was parked in their driveway the night prior, and upon returning, they observed contents strewn about inside. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information, and the Detective Bureau was advised.”
Oct. 22: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (MONSIGNOR DILUCA PLAZA) – “A party reported their vehicle was burglarized. They observed the rear driver-side door ajar in the morning and noticed a hooded sweatshirt had been taken from the rear seat. The Detective Bureau was notified.”
Oct. 23: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (PARK AVENUE) – “Officers responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle. The party stated that upon arriving at their car in the late morning, they observed that their bag containing multiple handheld gaming devices was missing, and the center console had been rummaged through. The Detective Bureau was notified of the incident.”
Oct. 28: THEFT FROM VEHICLE (WASHINGTON AVENUE) – “Officers responded to the report of a motor vehicle theft at a car dealership. The complainant stated an unknown person shattered the rear passenger window to a vehicle in their lot. An electronic control unit was taken from the vehicle. The Detective Bureau responded to process the scene and assumed control of the investigation.”
