A local high school student-athlete has a 4.1 GPA and volunteers all over town. "She's just genuinely a nice kid," her parent said.

BELLEVILLE-NUTLEY, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students in New Jersey, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
One such person? Cynthia of Belleville-Nutley, a student-athlete who volunteers all over town, who was nominated by her parent.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Cynthia is not only a straight-A student (4.1 weighted GPA), president of her class, active in basketball, track and flag football, she is always volunteering and giving back to her community and doing whatever she can for animals. She volunteers at the Clifton Animal Shelter. We have five cats at home and Cyn tirelessly takes care of them. Cynthia is in both the National Language Honor Society for Latin and also the National Honor Society. She volunteers for leaf cleanup in town, helping with Relay for Life events, K-2 Hoops Basketball Clinics for kids, Earth Day cleanup, helping with town-wide 5K races, and more. We don't even know how she finds the time to do it all, but somehow she does. And she's just genuinely a nice kid ... so worthy of recognition.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She's not the loudest voice, but she is a force who is trying to make a difference in her community.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Cynthia!
