He served in the U.S. Army from 2008–2016. He did two deployments, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. His last station was at Fort Myer in Arlington, Virginia. There he did military funerals for the Arlington National Cemetery. When he isn’t working, he spends time with his family, especially his daughters, and helps coach them for softball — which has become a full-time job in itself.

How do you know the veteran?

He is my husband.

What makes the veteran someone your community should know about?

He doesn’t often share that he served in the Army — most of his friends don’t even know. He’s never wanted special recognition or to be treated differently. Instead, he chooses to give back quietly, sacrificing his free time for the kids in our community. He coaches recreational softball and recently joined the Berkeley Girls Softball League Board. He’s dedicated to building a strong program that helps local kids grow, learn, and thrive.

What three words best describe the veteran?

Honorable, dependable, and dedicated.
