Berkeley Dad 'Loves Our Family & Is Always Helping Other People'

BERKELEY, NJ— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Berkeley, meet Kia Phua.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Vanessa Phua who nominated Kia Phua of Berkeley.

What makes your dad extra special?

I love that my dad cares not only for our family, but everyone in the community. After a long shift a work, he rushes home to coach softball, takes me to soccer and Girl Scouts. He's even starting a Cub Scout group that I can't wait to join. My teammates in softball think my dad is very funny, and we had such a great season that we want to play some more in the summer. He is always saying our town deserves better, and that's why is running for mayor.

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

He deserves the spotlight because he loves our family and is always helping other people. I love that people in our town are always looking for him to help with their problems, and he always takes the time to listen to everyone. He is the best!
