BERKELEY, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Jessica Burgos who nominated Janet Burgos of Berkeley.

What makes your mom extra special?

Growing up, my mother was always my best friend. She was always the type of person that I felt like I could tell anything to. Even my own friends would confide in her. She was loved by all the kids in the neighborhood and she always offered them a safe place to hang out and a warm plate of food.

My mother is one of the most selfless people I have ever met and I hope to be even half of the mother she was to us growing up to my own children. She is now an incredible Nana to all of her seven grandchildren. She continues to support me by helping me raise my babies so that I can pursue my dreams. We love you so much, Mom. Thank you for being you!

Why do you feel your mom deserves the spotlight?

I feel my mom deserves the spotlight because she has been feeling down lately and she deserves to be reminded of how incredible she is and just how much she is loved!

Happy Mother's Day to Janet Burgos, and thank you for all you do!
