Berkeley Roads Targeted In Monthly Traffic Safety Detail
Thursday will be the final Goal: Zero traffic safety detail of the year in Ocean County.
BERKELEY, NJ — The final Goal: Zero traffic safety detail is set this Thursday in several Ocean County towns.
Berkeley Township Police Chief Kevin Santucci announced that his agency is one of many in the county participating in the traffic detail from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 30, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. Nearby, Beachwood, Seaside Park and more will also be participating.
This high-visibility county-wide traffic enforcement detail is set to address the rise in traffic deaths in New Jersey. As of Oct. 27, 2025, 471 people have lost their lives on New Jersey roadways, and 52 of those deaths occurred in Ocean County, Billhimer said.

“Our mission is not to maximize citations, but to minimize loss of life. Goal: Zero serves as a means to achieve safer roadways, with the ultimate goal of reaching zero fatalities and serious injuries. Every life saved is the true measure of success of this initiative,” Billhimer said.
The Goal: Zero initiative is held the last Thursday of every month from March to October.
