Edward L. Helmick, Vietnam War Veteran, Dies At 70

Services for Bayville resident will be held on Thursday in Bayville

Edward L. Helmick of Bayville went home to Jesus on April 15, 2018. He was 70.

He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Mr. Helmick proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was decorated for his valor in action. Ed was also an accomplished fly fisherman. He had been employed for many years at the Ocean County Board of Social Services in Toms River.

He is survived by his four children, Christopher, Marti, Victoria Hayduk and her husband Michael and Joshua. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard in Bayville. Burial will take place at the Brig. Gen. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown at a time and date to be announced.
