Get Rid Of Unwanted Medicine This Weekend In Berkeley

In participation with the DEA National Takeback program, Berkeley police offer three separate locations to dispose of unneeded medication.

BERKELEY, NJ — Need to get rid of unwanted, unneeded or expired medication? The Berkeley Township Police Department is participating in the DEA National Takeback initiative this weekend.

On Oct. 29, bring your medication to one of three different locations offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Holiday City South (139 Santiago Dr., Toms River)
  • Berkeley Township Recreation Center (630 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville)
  • Berkeley Township Annex South Seaside Park (1455 Central Ave., South Seaside Park)

Participants can dispose of their medication in its original container or place it directly in the disposal box.

Liquid medications, intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes are not accepted.

The purpose of Prescription Take Back Day is to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from starting, according to DEA. For more information and other collection sites, visit DEA here.
