'Heart Of Gold:' Fundraiser For Berkeley Teen Who Died In Crash
Silverio Montes-Ponce always gave what he could, especially to his family, according to the GoFundMe organizer.
BERKELEY, NJ — Silverio Montes-Ponce always gave what he could. Now his family could use your help. A GoFundMe has been organized for Montes-Ponce's funeral, days after the Berkeley teen was hit by a car.
"Silverio had a heart of gold and always gave what he could, especially to his family," said Shannon Gallagher, the GoFundMe organizer. "He worked hard late to help his family financially."
Montes-Ponce, 17, died from his injuries Sunday in Toms River. The accident took place shortly after 3 a.m. The teen was leaving work, according to Toms River police.

The teen was a senior at Central Regional High School, according to his obituary. The school district's crisis team has helped students in need since his death. Read more: Teen Killed Crossing Street Was A Central Regional Student
He is survived by his parents, Silverio and Rufina Montes, and siblings Anthony, Rosa, Isabel and Guadalupo.

Montes-Ponce loved drawing, singing and being with family and friends, according to Gallagher.
Visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home (2482 Church Rd., Toms River). A funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Barnabas Catholic Church (33 Woodland Rd., Bayville).
In lieu of flowers, people can donate to the family to help with the cost of his burial in Mexico.
