It's Cranberry Season: Learn The Local History In Berkeley

Take a look at the local history of cranberry harvesting this fall.

BERKELEY, NJ — Fall marks cranberry harvesting season in New Jersey, and there's nowhere better to learn about its history than where one of the state's largest cranberry harvesting operations once was.

Take a look into the past at the Ocean County Library Berkeley Branch during “It’s Cranberry Time!” on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.

This program takes a retrospective look at Double Trouble Village, the company town on the tip of the Pine Barrens in Bayville where cranberries from surrounding bogs were processed before heading to markets and dinner tables. The village housed one of New Jersey’s largest cranberry operations for most of the 20th century, according to the library.
