Prepare For Spring By Making A Pollinator House In Berkeley
Learn how to support pollinators, who are responsible for much of the food we eat, by making them a home at the Ocean County Library.
BERKELEY, NJ — As winter melts into spring (and hopefully soon), get ready for warmer weather and support pollinators by making them a house to live in.
According to the National Park Service, we owe one of every three bites of food each day to pollinating insects. Their survival is challenged by diminishing habitats. And you can be part of the solution by building a pollinator house at the Ocean County Library Berkeley Branch, 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1.
Members of the Ocean County 4-H Outreach Programs staff will take you through each step in creating an inviting, nourishing shelter and nesting spot for tiny creatures like bees, butterflies and beetles that carry pollen and keep our ecosystems healthy. Plus, they’ll educate you about the global value of your local effort.
