Bernards Girls Fencing Fall Short In Final Four State Team Tournament

Overall, Bernards has had an incredible season, taking first place in the District 5 tournament, winning the county tournament, and more.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — In the Final Four State Team Tournament meet, Bernards High School Girls’ Fencing Team lost to Holy Angels in the final bout of the night.

Bernards, which was down at one point 5 to 10, rallied to tie up the score at 13-13. Holy Angels came through with the final bout and will move on to the Finals against Chatham on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Bernards has had an incredible season, taking first place in the District 5 tournament, winning the county tournament, and taking third place at the Santelli Tournament.

Bernards’ sabre squad, with juniors Stella MacDonald-Salerno, Emma Grau, and Julia Haas, earned five wins.

The foil squad, consisting of Lea Jalics, Tiffany Zhang, Iniya Saravanan and Grace Constantelos contributed four wins.

The epee squad, Alana Natilli, Fiona Vitale and Arden Adeo, brought four wins for Bernards.

Team members Briana Ho, Emma Grau, Arden Adeo and Stella MacDonald-Salerno will compete on Saturday, March 2nd in the State Individual Championships.
