ICYMI: Bernardsville, Bedminster Receive Local Aid Grants

The State of New Jersey announced municipalities across Somerset County will be sharing more than $3 million in local aid grants to advance street, safety and quality-of-life-improvements.

In total, 376 municipalities across the state successfully competed for $78.75 million in municipal aid grants, according to a report from NJ.com Thirteen other grants were issued under the Transit Village, Local Bikeway, and Safe Streets to Transit programs, totaling $3 million.

According to New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner Jamie Fox, many of the grants will support roadway repairs after a brutal winter.

Bernardsville Borough will be receiving $175,000 in grants to help fund improvements on Post Kunhardt Road. Bedminster Township will receive $134,742 to help fund improvements on Robertson Drive.

In total, 18 Somerset County municipalities will be receiving grants, totaling $3,068,742 in awards and no awards in urban allotment.

All of the grants will be funded through the New Jersey Transportation Trust fund, without burdening local taxpayers, according to the report.
