Mine Brook Road Reported Partly Open Thursday Afternoon After Wires Snagged

Police said power expected to be returned to area residents by 8 p.m. on Thursday and road expected to reopen by Friday.

As of Thursday afternoon, Jersey Central Power & Light still was at work to repair and restore downed power lines and a transformer on Minebrook Road reportedly snagged and pulled down by a tractor trailer driving on the road on Wednesday, Bernards Township police said.

The accident knocked power out in the area, and Mine Brook Road reportedly was closed between Whitenack and Chapin roads. However, police were reportedly out directing traffic and one lane was reopened as of shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday.

JCP&L anticipates returning power to affected residents by 8 p.m. on Thursday night, police said.
