Mountaineers Battle For Win Over Belvidere
Bernards High team fights until final seconds to hold onto unbeaten record in contest against powerhouse Belvidere.

The Bernards High Mountaineers held onto a 4-0 season record after a Friday night battle against seldom-beaten Belvidere that literally ended in the final seconds at the goal line.
The final score Bernards 33, Belvidere 28.
The final play was 3rd and 1-yard on the 1-yard line with five seconds left and no Belvidere time outs left, according to a report filed by Eric Simoneau.
Belvidere had moved the ball 69 yards in the final 1:42, converting a 3rd and 15 and a 3rd and 10 on the final drive. Belvidere attempted a quarterback sneak and Bernards stopped them just short of the goal line.

Final stop was made by Greg Bolton and Jon Diamond for Bernards.
"It was exciting from start to finish with Bernards scoring on their first play from scrimmage," Simoneau said.

In Belvidere, apparently the opposing team wasn't even sure whether they had made it across that line, according to a report from LehighValleyLive.com.
