Two Bernardsville Mountain Homes Ransacked
Police say two incidents appear to be related.
Two unoccupied homes on Bernardsville mountain appear to have been broken into and ransacked last week, and Bernardsville police say they are investigating the incidents as related.
Police said nothing was reportedly taken from either home.
According to police reports, a home on Roebling Road apparently was entered some time between 6:30 to 9:10 p.m. last Tuesday, Sept. 18. A person or persons entered an unlocked door and ransacked the residence, police said.

"Nothing was taken," said investigating Detective Brian Kelly.
Later, last Thursday, police report that home on Mountain View Lane, a private road, had been entered when someone "shouldered" a door open, possibly also on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The exact time of entry was unknown, but a neighbor spotted the open door last Wednesday, police said.
Police said that home also was ransacked, and nothing appeared to have been taken.
The homes are about a mile apart, police said.
Borough police again are reminding residents to be vigilant about locking doors, after Bernardsville and Bernards Township police in August issued a joint announcement in August saying there had been a number of burglaries in the area.
