Undefeated Mountaineers to Travel to Belvidere

Mountaineers football, with 3-0 season, heading to Belvidere Friday night.

Bernards High School football fans who want to see if their team can hold onto its undefeated record will have to travel to Belvidere on Friday night, for a scheduled away game at 7 p.m.

The team's most recent win, last Friday, was a 61-0 sweep over Manville High School.

In last Friday's game, first quarter touchdowns were scored by John Maddaluna on a 35-yard reception from Devin Ray, with Jon Diamond PAT kick good; a 3-yard rush by Zack Deleone and a 5-yard rush and completed kick by Jon Diamond.

Second quarter points were logged by Jackson Kotwick with 10-yard touchdown on reception from Devin Ray; a 63-yard touchdown rush and another 75-yard punt return by John Maddaluna. Diamond brough in points on four more kicks.

In the third quarter, Ryan Deleone scored on a 22-yard reception from Tyler Baum. A fourth quarter touchdown run was scored by Nick Dobash, with Ryan Deleone topping it off with an extra-score kick.

The team had opened its season with a 49-14 win against Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield for the season opener,  followed by a 41-14 victory over David Brearly High School in Kenilworth, Coach Jon Simoneau said.
