Due to the extreme heat, Sheriff Armando Fontoura, Coordinator of the Essex County Office of Emergency Management, Tuesday announced that cooling centers are open throughout the county.  Among them is the Bloomfield Civic Center at 84 Broad St. According to the announcement, the Civic center will remain open Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
