Bloomfield Police Hold Memorial For Detective Who Died Of COVID
Officers from Bloomfield and nearby agencies honored Detective James Peri with a ceremony on Wednesday. Peri died of COVID-19 last week.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Members of the Bloomfield Police Department and neighboring agencies honored Detective James Peri, who died of COVID-19 on Oct. 22, with a ceremony Wednesday morning.
Photos on the Bloomfield Division of Public Safety's Facebook page show a memorial attended by dozens of officers.

"This morning, members of the Bloomfield Police Department, along with many outside agencies, said our final goodbyes to Bloomfield Detective James Peri," officials wrote on the Facebook page. "Detective Peri leaves behind his beloved wife, 2 children, family and many friends. May you Rest In Peace #432."
Peri was a police officer for 15 years, and prior to his work in Bloomfield was a member of the Passaic Police Department, officials said.
