Bloomfield Weatherman: Snow, Snow and More Snow

Winter storm Nemo will hit Bloomfield Friday. 

The Bloomfield Weatherman brings bad news: Nemo will roll through New Jersey early Friday and into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. A "Winter Storm Warning" has also been issued between 6 a.m. Friday and noon on Saturday. 

Snow accumulation is expected to be between 10 and 14 inches. Temperatures will hover in the low 30s all day. 

The evening will bring the strongest winds and heaviest snowfall, in addition to freezing rain and sleet. Temperatures will dip down into the upper 20s, too. 

Visibility could be limited to several hundred feet during the worst of the storm, so try and stay off the roadways. 

Keep those flashlights and candles handy, because winds are expected to blow at 20 or 30 miles per hour, with gusts hitting as much as 50 miles per hour.

PSE&G is warning customers that conditions could increase the possibility of downed wires and power outages and that response times for both electric and gas emergency services may be longer than usual.

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. declared a snow emergency in the county late Thursday afternoon in anticipation of the storm.

As part of the emergency declaration, beginning Friday at 2 p.m., no parking and tow-away zone laws will be strictly enforced on all county roads to allow county crews to clear snow from streets.

New Jersey Transit announced Thursday it will offer full system wide cross-honoring for train, bus and light rail on Friday and Saturday. NJT is also encouraging passengers to travel early on Friday.
