Carter Breaks Bloomfield Hitting Record
BHS senior Mike Carter reaches milestone with 151 career hits.

A new Bengal record has been set.
Bloomfield High School senior Mike Carter now has the most career hits of any BHS player in the baseball program's 100-year plus history.
Carter had multiple at-bats in Bloomfield's 15-7 routing of Somerville, including a two run single and the sixth inning single that marked his 151st hit in his high school career.

The record was previously held by BHS alumnus Brian Lindner, who was recently inducted into the Bloomfield Athletic Hall of Fame after a baseball career that included a National Championship on the Collegiate level and reaching Double AA with the Seattle Mariners.
"The expression 'couldn't happen to a better kid' may have become an over used cliche but in this case it is the absolute truth," BHS Athletic Director Steve Jenkins said in an email.

Jenkins added that he has never seen a BHS athlete more respected, admired and revered by his Teammates, Classmates, Coaches and Teachers than Carter.
"Congratulations to Michael, Coach Policastro and his entire staff, Michael's teammates (he would be the first to tell you he could not have done it without them) and his family," Jenkins wrote.
