In a letter to residents, the Third Ward councilman explained that residents have approached him with concerns about safety and parking issues in the Third-Ward, particularly at night.
“In an effort to bring attention to our concerns, I will be ‘camping out’ in the neighborhood for an entire weekend so that I can observe exactly what issues exist and how best to address the issues,” Bernard said.

Bernard told constituents he would take an active role while out of doors.
“While you are sleeping, I am going to be walking the streets of the Third-Ward reporting any illegal activity I observe to the Bloomfield Police so that immediate action will be taken,” Bernard said.
Bernard said he hopes his presence will draw attention to the issues Third-Ward residents are concerned about, and be a “first step” in addressing issues in the area.
