Missing Bloomfield Man’s Body Found

Police in Bergen County have identified a body discovered over the weekend as 21-year-old Bloomfield resident Nycal Velasquez. 

Police had been searching for the 21-year-old Bloomfield resident since his abandoned car, which reportedly contained a suicide note, was found in Fort Lee in late March.

The Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office determined that a body that washed ashore at an Edgewater construction site was Velasquez, according to an NJ.com report. Edgewater police have not released an exact cause of death has not been released, but believe suicide is the likely cause. 

Velasquez’s disappearance caused an outpouring of grief and concern by family members and friends, many of whom took to social media to aid their search.
