Police Apprehend Man Who Fled into Newark

The following information has been provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 23-year-old Newark man was arrested in his hometown by Bloomfield police for an incident last month in which he eluded Bloomfield police and crashed into a parked car in Newark before fleeing.

On Sept. 18, police said, a Bloomfield police officer attempted to stop a speeding white 1997 4-door Honda Accord on Ampere Parkway. After a brief pursuit, the car crashed into a parked car at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and North 6th Street in Newark. The suspect then fled by foot and escaped.

Police were able to use evidence gathered at that crime scene to identify the suspect as Jason Colon. Warrants for his arrest for several Newark addresses were also obtained.
